Radiating Christ

Radiating Christ

Dear Jesus,

Help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go. Flood our souls with Your spirit and life. Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly that our lives may only be a radiance of Yours. Shine through us and be so in us that every soul we come in contact with may feel Your Presence in our soul. Let them look up and see no longer us but only Jesus! Stay with us and then we shall begin to shine as You shine, so to shine as to be a light to others; the light, O Jesus, will be all from You, none of it will be ours; it will be You shining on others through us. Let us thus praise You in the way You love best, by shining on those around us. Let us preach Your words by our example, by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do, the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to you.

Amen.

This is the daily prayer of Blessed Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity. I read it this morning in our church bulletin, and I was struck by its beautiful joy. And I loved that it really could be the prayer of anyone … I especially thought of moms and families. May we always strive to be that light to our children, and may our families always shine that light to the world. Sunday blessings to you and yours!

  1. Shine through us and be so in us that every soul we come in contact with may feel Your Presence in our soul. – I really want to be able to do that; so, Jesus, ora pro nobis!

  2. This is a lovely prayer. It reminds me of a quote from Thomas Merton, and I'm not sure I've got it quite right, but something about "if everyone could only see that we are all walking around shining like the sun". Let's keep shining!

  3. You must be editing or something, because I just read in google reader your post about preschool…but it's not here!
