Smart Girl
My third child turns four tomorrow. Earlier this week, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday dinner.
“Pancakes and cupcakes,” she said.
In our family, the birthday boy or girl can pick whatever they want for their birthday meal, so I was OK with all these cakes for dinner. (I always add to the meal with some protein and fruit =)
Then, later on in the week, an element in our oven broke, and we had to turn it off from the fuse box, because the broiler kept turning on, even when it was shut off.
I told my daughter that she would have to pick something that I didn’t have to cook in the oven or on the stove, because it is broken. I wasn’t sure she’d know what to say.
She answered, “How about waffles?”
Smart girl, I thought. Waffles we shall have.
