It is a sad day in our house. Because she heads out today. In fact, she is probably on the road right now. After three wonderful months with us, my mom (aka Grandma) is returning to Florida … This officially marks an end to summer for us, as she was here all.summer.long.I am grateful for a fabulous summer with her. We did everything together—work and play. She was unbelievably helpful with the kids and things around the house! We scrapbooked. Started a quilt. Watched movies. Spent lots of time sitting outside, watching the kids play, and sipping iced coffee. And if we weren’t together, it was because she was giving me a break—even an entire day off—to refresh, recharge and relax. Yes, I am so grateful.Because of her, our favorite movie this summer became The Sound of Music, as I wrote about before. Hence, the title of this post as well.Yes, we will miss her indeed. The trio will have to find a new teacher with whom to play school. The twins will be at a loss for their favorite playmate, the one they started going to for comfort when they scraped a knee! And how will I manage to keep them on their chore schedule? I know, I know—I am a grown woman with a husband, five children and a home to manage. But right now, I miss my mommy! Please pray for her and my aunt with whom she is traveling, as they drive these next few days across the country. That they arrive safely in Florida, as we ease into a new rhythm around here without one of our favorite things …+++O Lady of the Highway, be with us on our journey, for all your ways are beautiful and all your paths are peace. O God, who with unspeakable providence does rule and govern the world, grant unto us, your servants, through the intercessions of our watchful mother, to be protected from all danger and brought safely to the end of our journey. Amen.
