Press On: Remaining Faithful to the Good Things

Press On: Remaining Faithful to the Good Things

Yesterday, we focused on the very real things that weigh us down. Not just our busy schedule or hectic pace of life. But the things we can’t control but we have to endure … I pray you were able to find some hope in the present moment … to remember that God is WITH you in the midst of it. He offers strength, refuge, and companionship at every moment of our lives …

Today, Day 19 of Resetting the Rhythms of Life, let’s remain with the Lord in this very moment. Let us trust that we are right where we are supposed to be, and that God wants us to continue our very important work of renewing our prayer life, reclaiming time with loved ones, and refocusing our attention on the things that are good for us.

The Right Stuff

Often, when we try to do something that is good for us—something we would encourage a friend to do for herself—we can wrestle with it a bit. We have become so used to running here and there, saying “yes” to too much, and compromising sleep and healthy eating because we don’t have time. And yet, we rarely feel caught up, accomplished, and satisfied with how life feels. Instead, we grow weary, overwhelmed, and discouraged.

Perhaps that is why we are working on resetting the rhythms of life. We want something more, something better, something more peaceful.

If we are feeling guilty about bringing good habits back into your life, I encourage you to press on! Prayer, family time, sleep, and soul-care are so important. They will help us work harder, prioritize better, and live life more balanced. Let’s not accept the lie that crazy-busy is the only way. The Lord wants more for us. Let’s let Him show us the way.

Scripture Reading

Take a few moments to quiet your heart. Breathe in and out.

Read today’s Scripture verse.

“Brothers and sisters, do not be weary in doing what is right.” —2 Thessalonians 3:13

After reading the verse once, read it one or two more times.

What stands out to you? A word, feeling, thought …

Journal Prompt

The work you have been doing for the past 18 days is “right” work, good work, healthy work. We can get weary or discouraged, because it is difficult to create new habits—or reestablish them. But it is worth it, in the end.

Of all the things we have been working on in this series, what has been the most challenging for you? What has been the simplest? How have you found strength to press on?

Ask the Lord to show you the patterns in your life that He wants broken and the new patterns He wants to establish. Bring this present moment to Him. He is already here, waiting to guide and encourage you to press on and persevere in doing the right things in your life.

Closing Prayer

Dear Lord, Thank You for encouraging me today, in this prayer time. When I feel weary, I can imagine you taking hold of my hand and guiding me further ahead. Walking with You in this work of resetting the rhythms of life gives me hope that I can establish new habits and practices in my life. Thank You for Your patience and for never giving up on me. I love You, Lord! Amen.
