Little Flowers :: Love of Neighbor

Little Flowers :: Love of Neighbor

The fourth virtue in the first wreath of Little Flowers is Love of Neighbor. Our meeting focused on how when we have Love of God, we can express that love by helping, serving and loving our neighbor.

And who is our neighbor?
Each person we encounter. Our parents, our siblings, our friends and classmates, those in our neighborhoods, those we barely know, strangers.
To give the girls a tangible way of expressing Love of Neighbor, we decided to make one of the badge activities into a group service project.
We colored additional pictures of our saint, St. Jane Frances de Chantal, and put them on paper grocery bags. Then, for a month or so, we have been collecting canned goods as a group. (This coincided very well with Lent and doubled as a lesson in almsgiving, too!) At some point in Lent, we will bring our collections to a local food shelf.
Simple cupcakes with red roses (this virtue’s flower) rounded out our meeting.
St. Jane Frances de Chantal, pray for us!
