Engagement Story—Revisited

Engagement Story—Revisited

From the archives: February 3, 2009 Today, I’m doing something I’ve never done before. I am reposting a blog post! A “from the archives” thing. Betty Beguiles is inviting bloggers to share their engagement stories, and since it has been over two years since I shared mine, I thought I’d share it again. If you’ve already read it, feel free to pass it by. But perhaps some kind people who are newer to my blog will enjoy it, as much…

One Year Later …

One Year Later …

Perhaps, if you have been with me for awhile now, you will remember this post from last Advent. It talks about my missing Advent wreath. It was on backorder. So, I made this one. I ended up feeling deep peace about this simple little wreath. Advent 2009 didn’t begin the way I thought it was going to. But at the same time, I was taught a personal lesson that I hope I won’t forget. And when my wreath finally arrived…

Today

Today

The wind has been howling (literally) for over a day now. I woke up to it again this morning. I’ve never heard or felt wind like this. Even in the house, windows are rattling a bit because of this incredible wind. It’s really quite amazing and will be most memorable. We may even get a bit of snow. I guess we are finally getting our cold fall. We really have been spoiled this month by such mild weather. Why am…

Getaway

Getaway

On the Superior Shore. Savoring the last days of summer. Just me and my husband. There was no need to be busy. We’re always busy with work and family life. We didn’t feel the need to be busy on our mini vacation. Plus, we’ve been here before, we’ve seen a lot of it already, and we’ll probably be here again. Not to mention, we were a bit tired-out of sightseeing after our family trip. So, we spent our time sitting…

Night Out

Night Out

Last night, my husband and I had a night out! I think it has been more than two months since our last date night, so we were very much looking forward to it. We went to a gala event for a new Catholic high school in our area. This school has us very excited! We are several years away from making that high-school decision, but it’s comforting to know there is an exceptional option for our children when that time…

Ever So Thankful

Ever So Thankful

I am ever so thankful for so many blessings … Here are just a few: + a wonderful, long-overdue date with my husband to celebrate our eighth anniversary. We went to a concert and then to Mass at a little French church in the city. Afterward, we ate dinner at a new Asian restaurant. We had drinks, appetizers, dinner, dessert—the works! It was so much fun! + my husband, who is the sensible one around here. He’s always helping me…

Recognize Me

Recognize Me

Since I’m in a bit of a nostalgic mood after celebrating my eighth wedding anniversary yesterday, I thought I’d share a bit of history about our wedding day and the planning that led up to it. When my husband and I were planning our wedding, we decided to have a theme. It wasn’t really about making sure everything at the wedding and reception coordinated. It was more so that we could keep focused on what was truly important: receiving the…

Eight

Eight

It has been eight years. Today. Eight years since my husband and I got married. It has been a full eight years. In some ways, I cannot believe it has been that many. In some ways, in seems much longer. Both ways, I think are good. Through all of the years, it has been blessed. So. very. blessed. The Lord has been so good to us. He has provided so generously in so many ways. He has stretched us beyond…

St. Gregory the Great, Pray For Us

St. Gregory the Great, Pray For Us

It is not by faith that you will come to know [God] but by love; not by mere conviction, but by action. ~St. Gregory the Great St. Gregory the Great Italy ~ 540-604 Pope and Doctor of the Church +++ The feast day of St. Gregory the Great is also my husband’s name day. So, it’s an extra special day for us. We not only remember a wonderful pope, but we also ask his special prayers for the husband and…

House of Prayer

House of Prayer

My husband and I spent a peaceful Thursday traveling to this House of Prayer in the central part of our state. It was a lovely little place (in the middle of nowhere) dedicated to Our Lady, Queen of Peace. We prayed the Rosary and chatted with the very dear woman who works there, Rose. We entered numerous prayer requests into the petition box. It was a chance to quiet our hearts and empty our minds and give it all to…
