Small Success Thursday on the Feast of St. Agnes

Small Success Thursday on the Feast of St. Agnes

Well, it’s Thursday already! And it is the Feast of St. Agnes. I attended Mass at the Church of St. Agnes today and received a blessing with her relic. It was the highlight of my week. This week was short, because of the national holiday on Monday. One my children was home sick on Tuesday and Wednesday. So, in some ways, the normalcy of the week feels like it is just getting underway. That’s OK, though. I am still able to see goodness and small…

Small Success Thursday :: On Rest and Peace

Small Success Thursday :: On Rest and Peace

We are into the second week of summer, and this week has been an unusual one. In a good way. All six of my children are attending VBS this week. At four years old, my youngest son is finally able to participate, and my oldest can be a helper. So, everyday this week, I dropped them off and had two-and-a-half hours all to myself! Back when I signed them up, I expected to get a bunch of stuff done in that…

Small Success Thursday: Beginning Lent

Small Success Thursday: Beginning Lent

It’s always so hard for me to believe when Thursday rolls around! The week can’t possibly go by that quickly! But here it is, Thursday again and time to share our small successes of the week with others over at CatholicMom.com! I am not consistent about posting in this link-up, but I really do like it! We need to celebrate our victories, even the small ones, from time-to-time! 1. I put away my winter decorations and started decorating for Lent. I used to be…

Small Success Thursday: It’s Late November Already?

Small Success Thursday: It’s Late November Already?

It’s Thursday and time to share our small successes of the week with others over at CatholicMom.com! It is really, really hard for me to believe we’re near the end of November. In my head, it is still right around November 1, and I have the whole month to ponder plans for Advent and Christmas. But as of today, there is only one week until Thanksgiving and 10 days until the First Sunday of Advent. Where, oh where did November go? If…

Small Success Thursday :: It All Adds Up

Small Success Thursday :: It All Adds Up

It’s Thursday and time to share our small successes of the week with CatholicMom.com! I believe whole-heartedly in celebrating our small successes, as I’ve said here before. But sometimes, I admit, I have to rack my brain to come up with successes worthy of a blog post. What success have I really had this week? Of all the things I did this week, what is really worth mentioning here? Do questions like that ever enter your mind and heart? Those doubts…

Small Success Thursday: Everything is Awesome

Small Success Thursday: Everything is Awesome

One day, about a year or so ago, I was venting to a friend about my never-ending to-do list. As if she (or anyone else for that matter) didn’t have one just as long as mine. She obviously understood my woes, but she also suggested the brilliant concept of the “done” list, which includes writing down the tasks (even the littlest ones) that I actually did throughout the day. Because, let’s face it, we do so much more than what’s…

Small Successes :: On Marriage, $4 Lattes and Blogging

I have been meaning to write a Small Successes post for a few weeks, and I always remember on Friday! So, I wait another week, only to miss the link-up again! But I made it this week! YEAH!! Here are my Small Successes for this week: 1. Earlier this week, I spent a few days away with my husband! Hooray!! We went up to Duluth, MN, where it was really, really cold but also really, really quiet and peaceful. Even…

New Year Small Successes

New Year Small Successes

Merry Christmas! And Happy New Year! After returning to this space in November, I had big plans and high hopes to be here more often. But a month-long (now longer) illness prevented me from doing so. Advent and Christmas were not what I had planned either. But sometimes it takes something physical (like being sick) to really practice letting go, focusing on the absolute essentials and not worrying about the rest. Christ still came to us as a tiny baby…

First-ever Small Success Thursday Post

First-ever Small Success Thursday Post

Over at CatholicMom.com, we count our small successes for the week. Recently, a friend reminded me how important this is to do. In fact, she encouraged me to do it daily, even if it appears to be bragging, because she knows that if I don’t, well, something like this will happen instead: So often, I am bombarded with long to-do lists. But rather than feeling good about checking things off, I focus too much on what’s still on the list….
