Yarn Along :: It’s Been a Long Time

Yarn Along :: It’s Been a Long Time

It’s been since August that I posted anything about knitting. It’s been since April since I linked up with Ginny’s Yarn Along series. I even had to check to see if she still hosted it! (She does!) It seems like no matter how I hard I try, there are certain things in my life that I just can’t incorporate into my current routine. Knitting used to be a more integral part of my life, but somewhere along the way, I lost…

Finally!!

Finally!!

I started this lace scarf in February 2010. For a friend whose birthday is in May. Three months. Plenty of time. Right? Wrong. Her birthday came and went with no scarf. I had every intention of finishing it sooner, rather than later. But that didn’t happen. Life happened. Other knitting projects happened. And this sweet scarf moved closer and closer to the bottom of my knitting bag. So, after being way too belated for last year’s birthday, I resolved to…

First Holy Communion Spiritual Bouquet

First Holy Communion Spiritual Bouquet

With each invitation we sent out, we (secretly) included a little card asking guests to join us in giving our daughter a spiritual bouquet for her First Holy Communion. They could check off what prayers they would like to offer for her. And then, we asked them to bring the card, attached to a special flower, to our celebration afterward. It was so beautiful to see the bouquet grow, with all of the different hand-selected stems! And all of the…

Tea and Cake

Tea and Cake

Her heart is full. Ready to serve. She’s almost always willing to do what needs to be done. She enjoys helping with recipes. And she often volunteers to clear the table or sweep the floor. Her kindness overflows. She teaches me a lot. Everyday. This was one of her Christmas gifts. A lovely little book she could use to continue learning about service, as well as hospitality and some homemaking skills. She is drawn to the domestic arts anyway, so…

His and Hers

His and Hers

My husband attends a silent Ignatian retreat every year. The order of priests and brothers that puts on the retreat has a strong devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows. Part of the retreat’s prayer ritual is reciting the Chaplet of Our Lady of Sorrows several times throughout the weekend. When Greg returned from his fall retreat this year, he mentioned that he would like his own Chaplet, so that he could continue praying it throughout the year. His mentioning was…

All Wrapped Up

All Wrapped Up

Thank you all so much for your sweet congratulatory comments. And thank you for your prayers. My recovery is going as well as expected for a c-section. Joseph is doing beautifully, too. And the children are adjusting (with the anticipated ups and downs that go with that) … I originally had written the below post before Joseph was born. But I never got a chance to post it, due to his early arrival. So, I have revised it and am…

Mama Bee

Mama Bee

For all expectant mothers … Just thought I’d share a product I recently discovered that is absolutely wonderful! This would make a very-much-appreciated Christmas gift, too.

Birthday Mitts

Birthday Mitts

An early birthday gift for my almost-eight-year-old daughter. She has been asking for a pair of fingerless gloves ever since I made a pair for myself back in April. I started out with one pattern, but I realized that it just didn’t look right with the yarn I had selected. So, I did a little search on Ravelry and found another pattern. This one is knit on straight needles and then sewn at the seams. A little different but I…

Through Her Eyes

Through Her Eyes

For awhile now, my five-year-old daughter has been asking to borrow my camera to take photos. Sometimes I allow this, and sometimes I don’t. It sort of depends on the day and what’s going on. She also has been asking for her own camera for a good six months. And she finally received an inexpensive point-and-shoot for her recent birthday. Some may say five is too young for her own camera. But over the months, my husband and I have…

A Mailbox Full of Fun

A Mailbox Full of Fun

Yesterday, I was delighted to find something fun in the mailbox, instead of the typical fliers, bills and other junk mail. It was a package! A delightful package from Carmen at Carmie’s Cozy Conifer Cabin. And in that delightful package was some lovely, colorful yarn that she knew she’d never use and wanted to give away. Since I’m still a fairly new knitter and haven’t acquired a big “stash” of yarn, I gladly said I would take the yarn she…
